The aesthetic uses summer imagery, vivid colors and gradients to give a feeling of joy and nostalgia. The sun, hearts, stars and a variety of funky shapes were create with Adobe Illustrator. They can be found in printed materials, digital and environmental graphics. Cars are reduced to colorful dots, and roads become thick asphaltgray lines that wrap around skylines and housing. Based on Helen Hunt Jackson’s A Calendar of Sonnets, each month contains one of her poems and a quote from famous transcendentalists.
